Why Choose us as your Chiropractor?

Dr. Stadnik has 17 years of experience as a chiropractor, serving all types of cases within every demographic. We have treated patients as young as newborn babies to patients nearing the century mark. We utilize several different chiropractic techniques to best fit your needs for your individual health concerns. This is how we are able to see and treat whole families who have needs ranging from wellness check-ups to severe, chronic conditions. We take the time to take a health history, get to know you and then make a recommendation for the type and level of care that we feel you need. We will work together to determine your health goals and help you to reach them. Throughout your time as a patient in the clinic, your health goals may change. You may come in for an injury or other acute condition, get treatment and get well, then decide to come in periodically for wellness check-ups. You may come in for wellness care, then have an issue arise that needs a new plan and different treatment goals. We can help and work with you in any scenario.

How Do I Know if I Need Chiropractic Care?

Chiropractic care is for everyone; it’s a matter of determining what your specific needs are. We live with stress on our spine and our nervous system constantly. From the birthing process, learning to crawl/walk, falls, sports, repetitive activities, poor posture, accidents, and injuries, we are constantly dealing with the stress of our environment. When there are misalignments in the spine it can put stress on the delicate tissues of the brain stem and spinal cord causing dis-ease and dysfunction in all the systems of the body. It is a good idea to have the alignment of your spine checked periodically to make sure the joints are moving and functioning properly so that your overall health and wellness can be optimal. It is also important to get counselling on strategies and exercises to maintain better spinal alignment and function. Pain is not a good indicator of whether or not you need care. Other than an acute injury, by the time pain shows up, the problem has likely been present for some time. Also, we can get pain to go away fairly quickly, but does that mean that a problem that you have been suffering with for years is suddenly gone? Bottom line is, everyone is different and how much care you need is individual to you. If you are interested in feeling and functioning at your best, then Chiropractic care is for you.

Can I Perform My Own Spinal Adjustments?

Unfortunately, you cannot perform your own spinal adjustments. Many people have figured out ways to ‘crack’ their neck or back. The ‘crack’ is nitrogen gas being released from the spinal joints of the neck or back with sudden movements that cause the joints to separate or gap. In the neck, these joints are tied to an endorphin release. Endorphins are a chemical that can make you feel good temporarily. The problem with trying to adjust your own neck or back is that we aren’t able to affect just the bone that is restricted or out of alignment. When you adjust yourself, you are affecting areas above and below the site that is being manipulated. Also, sometimes the area that hurts may not be the problem; it might be compensating for a larger problem. That’s where getting evaluated by a Doctor of Chiropractic and having radiographs (x-rays) taken to determine what type of treatment needs to be done. Now, there are ways to stretch and move that does cause the joints in your neck and back to ‘pop’ and make noise and give you some relief, however, this is something that we can discuss with you after your evaluation.

Is Chiropractic Care Appropriate for Children?

Yes, Chiropractic Care is appropriate for children. We have treated kids are early as newborns. My own children were checked and adjusted in the delivery room! The birthing process itself can put stress on the neck of the newborn, specifically. As kids develop, they go through a number of traumas from crawling, walking, taking falls, sports, etc. The way we treat children may be quite different from the way we treat adults. Young children need very little adjusting and also respond with gentle techniques. Chiropractic spinal adjustments can be made by hand or using an instrument. These techniques make a light, quick impulses to affect the areas of the spine that are out of alignment.

Can You Receive Chiropractic Care During Pregnancy?

Yes, many pregnant moms receive Chiropractic care every day for help with the stresses that their bodies go through during pregnancy. Care for pregnant moms would differ from Chiropractic care for wellness or for an injury, due to the needs of the patient. Checking pregnant moms through all the trimesters to make sure that the pelvis is aligned as well as address symptoms that may arise during the changes in baby development causing stress on the back, hips, legs, neck, etc. Chiropractic care is effective and important during the entire term of your pregnancy.

Can My Body Become Addicted to Chiropractic Adjustments?

Your body doesn’t become addicted to Chiropractic; however, some people find that they become addicted to ‘cracking’ their own neck and back. This is likely because they are not able to properly adjust their own neck, so they cannot fix the problem, hence the reason they feel like they always have to crack their neck. There is an endorphin release with adjustments in the upper neck that help you to feel better, but there are no studies suggesting that Chiropractic care causes addiction. Once people start experiencing the benefits of Chiropractic and feel better, they tend to want to stay feeling better. Continuing with Chiropractic care to continue to feel better and function better is a choice many people make after receiving care for their initial complaints.

Are Chiropractic Treatments Painful?

Typically, no. Chiropractic care is safe, gentle, and effective. If a treatment is painful, it is most likely because you were in pain to begin with coming in for care. Sometimes treatments in the beginning are a little gentler because the patient is more pain sensitive. As time goes on and your pain is less, the treatment technique can change and be more tolerable. Most times people feel some instant improvement after getting adjusted.

What Conditions Can Benefit from Chiropractic Care?

Chiropractors treat people with many conditions. Common complaints are headaches, neck pain, lower back pain, numbness and tingling in arms and legs, sciatic pain, poor posture, auto accidents, sports injuries, and repetitive strain injuries. We also treat people without any major conditions; just people who are doing well and want to continue to feel great and function at their optimal level.

Do I need x-rays before I get adjusted?

It is difficult to determine what type of care you will need until you come in and are evaluated by Dr. Stadnik, DC. Based on your findings, x-rays may be recommended. We do take x-rays in the clinic, and we can also refer out for x-rays with certain circumstances. Taking x-rays of the neck or back will always give more information about your present condition and help to determine the most appropriate treatment for you. We always discuss with you any treatments necessary before they are performed. We may be able to use recent x-rays that you have taken for the same complaint.
